Therapy for pregnancy, postpartum, matrescence, and beyond
The metamorphosis of parenthood can break us wide open. You don’t have to go through this alone.
Matrescence, or the identity shift at the heart of becoming a mother, is a deep, confronting process. So much surfaces during this transition. Maybe you're feeling far away from yourself and unsure when the ground will steady itself again. Maybe old losses, traumas, and wounds are returning to you in new ways, or you're feeling lost in the forest of change. Maybe you feel far away from your partner and unsure how to find each other again. Maybe you're navigating pregnancy loss or fertility challenges, or struggling to decide if you want to become a parent at all.
Regardless of what has brought you here, this is a period of profound transformation, and an incredibly rich time to engage in this work. Let's talk.
Who I Work With
The people I work with best are those who are deep-feeling, and who are open to metaphor, synchronicity, and the numinous. Those who are searching for language to describe and make meaning of what is happening to them. People who sense that something vast is occurring and feel lost within it, while also listening for what is happening on a deeper level. I’m here for your authentic spirituality, the ways in which you make meaning, and exploring the larger “inward arc” of your journey of life.
Therapy, at its core, is a sacred container. It's not about “fixing” you. I don't believe you're broken, even if you are suffering. You are already whole, and much of our suffering comes from losing sight of that wholeness, that unbroken light within ourselves. The goal is not to help you conform better to a failing system or function better on the surface while still feeling empty or lost inside; the goal is to help you find the root of what is happening for you, and locate the inner spiral that is the pathway out of suffering and into self-knowledge, maturity, and self-compassion. True healing, not just symptom alleviation, springs from that place.
A little bit about me
I'm a psychodynamic therapist, a mother, a writer, and an artist. I am passionate about supporting mothers through the process of matrescence; a passion that is deeply rooted in my own experience as a mom.
In my off-time you'll find me reading, exploring nature with my daughter and partner, thread-painting and working with textiles, making sourdough, and spending time with plants.

Unfortunately I do not accept insurance for couples therapy and cannot issue superbills for couples therapy.
Here’s why: to use insurance to pay for couples therapy, I would have to bill under the code ‘Family psychotherapy with patient present’. This means that one person has to meet criteria for an individual diagnosis (like depression or anxiety, for example), and the treatment goals are informed by that person’s diagnosis. That is very different from true relational psychotherapy, where the relationship is the patient, and there are no mental health diagnoses. Goals are determined based on what you as a couple want to work on, and the work happens in the relationship. This type of work doesn’t meet criteria for that insurance billing code, unfortunately.
To help make couples therapy more affordable, some couples choose to meet less frequently than once per week. I’m happy to talk with you about a treatment frequency that will both allow for therapeutic work to gain momentum while also being financially sustainable for you.
-
Absolutely! Your baby is always welcome at individual sessions. For couples sessions, we’ll decide on a case-by-case basis, as sometimes couples sessions aren’t appropriate for babies due to conflict or emotional overwhelm. Unfortunately I don’t allow older children to be present for sessions.

I might be, and I might not be! I am always supportive when clients want to do a trial run, because fit is so important to the success of therapy. Generally, my style is gentle, open, and active. I trust you and what you bring each week, but I don’t sit in silence and expect you to guide the work yourself - I will offer suggestions, activities, and practices to help you delve more deeply into what you bring to sessions. I also often incorporate humor, reflective and meditative practices, and creativity into the therapy space. I’m not afraid to challenge you, but I always work to do so with humility, openness, and gentleness.
-
Not at all! Many of my clients are not navigating these concerns, but come to me for other reasons entirely. If my vibe feels like a good fit to you, I’m happy to meet. I have background in working with family of origin trauma, grief and loss, and other women’s issues in addition to pregnancy, matrescence, and postpartum.
