Individual Therapy
|
We enter life as brand-new beings, open to the world in its entirety - but along the way our experiences, heartaches, and hardships can lead us far away from ourselves. In therapy, I help you build a connection to your inner self, integrate past wounds and hurts, and help you begin to envision the life you want.
I encourage building discernment and trust in your instincts, rooted in self-compassion and the unique values you hold. I approach therapy with curiosity, humor, compassion, and a deep respect for who you are and where you have been. Blending radical self-compassion with a belief in your ability to move toward change is central to my approach to therapy. |
Specialities
Healing Family Wounds & Trauma
To be part of a family is to belong to the past, the present, and the future. Difficult dynamics often get handed down through the generations, until the time comes for someone to break a cycle or grow in a new direction. In therapy, we’ll explore, grieve, and work on healing the (often quite deep) wounds that can stem from dysfunctional family dynamics, and understand how attachment wounds might be showing up in your current relationships and impacting your emotional well-being. We’ll work to increase your sense of agency and empowerment surrounding your family dynamics, and move toward more fulfilling and harmonious relationships (both within your family and outside of it).
Thriving as a Highly Sensitive Person
Embracing sensitivity is easier said than done: our society can be rough on the most sensitive among us, and many HSPs have internalized the idea that sensitivity is a flaw, which can be reinforced by some of the struggles that come with being highly sensitive. Despite the struggles, the world needs sensitive people - the world needs you! In therapy, we’ll work on building self-awareness and skills to manage the challenges of being highly sensitive - sensory overload, stress, anxiety, boundaries - so you can have space to uncover the unique gifts of this trait.
Overcoming Codependency and People-Pleasing
Sometimes we internalize the idea that to be loved and to belong, we have to sacrifice important parts of ourselves. We begin to associate being loved with being of service, and it can begin to feel more like a hostage situation than an act of care that is freely given. There can be moments of clarity when we realize that we have lost touch with our true selves, and find ourselves longing for the space to find our way back to ourselves, while still being loved and accepted. In therapy, we’ll work on reconnecting with and rediscovering yourself and learning to trust your innate sense of discernment and intuition.
Other specialities include: Grief and loss, ecopsychology, building healthy spirituality and/or healing from spiritual abuse, and relationship trauma.
